This article speculates about possible uniswap-like DEX (decentralized exchange) airdrops in the near future.
The uniswap airdrop
The popular decentralized exchange uniswap in September 2020 announced to airdrop 400 of it’s native token UNI to addresses which have ever called it’s smart contract on the Ethereum blockchain. To date, that amount accounts for around 3,500 USD.
Since then, many dexes have followed uniswap’s example. The most popular names are probably sushiswap and the DEX aggregator 1inch. Naturally it comes to mind to simply create thousands of Ethereum addresses, make a little trade on the dex with each of them and thus get a muliple amount of the airdropped tokens. However, the more recent airdrops have been more sophisticated. While the uniswap airdop was rather dumb, 1inch for example introduced a 20 USD threshold to qualify for the distribution of it’s token. Believe me, many people got burned by this.
So what are possible future airdrops?
These are, in no specific order:

How to play this?
Assuming the airdrops get more and more sophisticated in the future, we currently do not see a viable way to play this. We expect certain thresholds to be met in order to qualify for the distributions. And taking into account the lately more expensive Ethereum network fees we have not found a methology yet which is worth the risk. Keep in mind, nobody nows if a certain dex will do an airdrop at all. Our strategy so far is to make trades, we would have executed anyway, rather on dexes than on centralized exchanges like binance and hence interact with as many decentralized protocols as possible.
